Our Story

My name is Tammie, and I am the founder of Con Amor Gatherings. This journey was born from my love of creativity, culture, community, and connection.

I’ve long considered myself a creative and storyteller - gifts I inherited from both my parents. My dad is a handyman and woodworker who can fix and build just about anything, while my mom was the “human Pinterest” before Pinterest even existed. From an early age, I developed a love of repurposing and creating things from my dad, while my mom taught me DIY, to plan fun events & parties, pay attention to detail, and to make every occasion special.

I carried my creativity into my profession, spending 17 years in higher education running cultural and social justice centers, and student engagement activities at colleges and universities. I have planned thousands of events — from cultural events, theater productions, art showcases, dialogue groups, affinity circles, trainings, and workshops to personal celebrations. My favorite part of the work was bringing events to life through creativity and building community.

Over time, I realized I wanted to create these kinds of meaningful experiences beyond the boundaries of my professional career — in a way that felt more personal, creative, and rooted in joy. Con Amor Gatherings was born from that desire: a space to bring people together through creativity, culture, community, and love.
